Finding Trust Through Love

Trust. It’s been a tough 4 weeks for all of us. Change, quarantine & uncertainty shaking our routines up. Those routines we’ve come to trust, like work, school, family & friend gatherings, how we get food, how we move our bodies and how we pray. With it being Good Friday, I can’t help but think Jesus, the apostles and other disciples must’ve felt their trust waiver too-probably more so. As one to look for solutions, I am drawn to what Jesus did and how we can model his behavior during this time. WWJD? You may think, “What?!?! Jesus was brutally

Trusting God as we Move into Holy Week

Boy am I glad March’s theme was Letting Go and April’s is Trust. I like to send my email subscribers a newsletter at the end of the month, but it just didn’t happen-for the second month in a row…. Not what I want for my subscribers. I like to keep my promises, but it is my reality, right now. I was waiting for the final touches to a big announcement to share with them, but was having technical issues. (I’ll share more next week!!!) And while it’s still not “perfect,” I’m trusting it will all be OK. I’m also trusting

Letting Go…Dusting Ourselves Off to Let Our Light Shine

Totally fessing up here. Try as I might, it’s been tough to pray often, eat well & move more this week. I’ve been swept up in going from one public health website to another and then back again–just in case something changed… While it’s prudent to be informed, I realized all this fact-finding was eating away at my prayer time, eroding my trust in God. This, in turn, causing a domino effect in my productivity, creativity, connectivity as well as my eating, movement and sleeping patterns! I was letting my light dim. Here’s how I’m dusting off all the stuff

Navigating the Winds of Change by Praying Often, Eating Well & Moving More

Change…. It can be challenging under the best of circumstances, but can become downright stressful when it’s been thrust upon us as quickly as things have changed over the last week. It’s hard to know where to start or what you can do when so much is out of our control. Getting back to the basics of praying often, eating well & moving more are among the best things we can do to help us bounce back from most anything life throws our way. Finally, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely,

Physical Ways to Let Go….

There are so many ways to let go of things, ideas, thoughts, emotions, limiting beliefs, past hurts, regrets and the list goes on and on and on… Last week, I shared one way to become aware of what you need to let go of and how to place God at the helm in letting go by using JOY as your compass. As physical beings, in a physical world, experiencing life with physical senses, sometimes we need physical ways to let go, too. Let’s explore a few that have and have not worked for me. Prayer Box I read about this

Letting GO! Step-by-Step Approach to Let Joy be Your Compass

Can you believe it’s March already!?! Crazy! The winds of change are in the air. Literally as the upper 2/3 of Iowa is in a Wind Advisory today, and figuratively during the season of Lent. As an RN, health coach and child of God, I recognize the importance of letting go to allow space for all the goodness God has to offer. But sometimes the thought of letting go can stir up feelings of fear, doubt, possible regret or dread. Any kind of change can be hard. Even when we know the things we want to let go of are

Respecting Yourself and Your Body to Reach Your Health & Wellness Goals

Monday, I tried to apply Dr. Emerson & Sarah Eggerichs’ teachings on Love & Respect to our lives in a video for my private Facebook group. What I really wanted to convey was how women and men differ in how they operate, what their needs are, how we compliment and lift each other up based on our need for love or respect and then how can we apply that to our own Lenten journey. I’ve decided to let the Eggrich’s talk about the message God commissioned them to share and focus on what God is calling me to share. Self-Respect

Using the 5 Love Languages to Pray, Eat & Move During Lent

I’ve been focusing on Love throughout February. I planned to talk about Gary Chapman’s 5 Love Languages, but one of my private Facebook members wanted some ideas to do things during Lent instead of the don’t do things many of us were traditionally raised with. I thought why not combine them? We’ll explore what the 5 Love Languages are, how they relate to different relationships you have (including yourself, your body & God) as well as some ideas you add to your Lenten journey as you pray often, eat well & move more. I remember the first time I read

Loving Your Body: The Key to Creating Habits that Stick

Tis the month of Love! And that’s what I’m focusing on. Very similar to joy, Iove is maybe a little more subdued, more of feeling of safety, acceptance, cared for. When I feel loved, I experience joy! And when I experience joy, so many good things happen! There are many aspects to love. I’m going to focus on how loving ourselves and our bodies helps us create the change we are looking for when as we strive to pray often, eat well & move more. The 2nd and 3rd pillars of my program relate to this concept. Jesus said, “And

How to Make Light Work for You and Your Body

The people who have walked in darkness have seen a great light. Isaiah 9:1a This past Sunday’s readings were all about light. Imagine that. Maybe it’s the church’s way of letting those of us in the Northern Hemisphere know Christ and his light are always here for us. And that the days are getting longer! We frequently hear about light in a spiritual context, but light is also a requirement for our physical health, too. Yes, we do need the light of Christ, but light also affects our physical health. Most of us don’t get the right kinds of light
